Barbados 1998
I proposed to Marianne whilst on a short
(4 day) holiday in Barbados...
We stayed in a self-catering apartment at Round Rock on the South-East
Coast.

Barbados 1999
And here we are again back in Barbados the
following year, this time to get married. !
Our parents came out to join us for the occasion and to enjoy a few days
holiday themselves. We stayed at the fantastic Crane Beach Hotel (the
oldest hotel on the island) and got married on the beach. Take a

Isle of Wight, May 2000
| Our next holiday destination was the Isle
of Wight the following year, by which time Marianne was expecting
Gemma. We didn't want to fly anywhere and decided on the Island as
we'd both enjoyed childhood holidays there. We stayed in
self-catering accommodation and were very lucky with the weather -
although it was May, there was an unexpected heatwave although the
weeks week before and after were stormy and wet (typical English
weather). |
Cyprus, May 2001
| For our first holiday with Gemma we decided
to visit Cyprus as neither of us had been there before. A fantastic
holiday but in retrospect, we didn't realise how difficult travelling
would be with an 11-month old child, especially on a package deal charter
flight where you're packed in like sardines. Nonetheless, a
memorable holiday and here are some great pictures to prove it... |
Swanage, May 2002
| We holidayed in Swanage, Dorset in June
2002. Marianne was expecting Alexander and again, we didn't
want to travel too far (flying for example) so decided on a holiday resort
in the UK. Swanage is the perfect seaside resort for a young
family: plenty to do but not too brash (unlike Blackpool, Margate
etc). We rented a cottage for a week and although the weather
let us down somewhat, had a fantastic time. Most importantly,
Gemma really enjoyed herself. Brilliant memories of her
building her first sandcastles and running away from the waves.

| One
of our favourite holiday photos; this was taken on the way home from
Swanage. We stopped off at Boscombe to spend some time on the beach
and once the weather got too overcast (around 4pm) decided to head for
home. This picture was taken about 5 minutes before we left.

SWANAGE 2005
